With the latest update of Kardia app, you will receive FDA-cleared, medical-grade EKG Instant Analysis for Bradycardia, Tachycardia, Atrial Fibrillation, and Normal.
What is Bradycardia?
Kardia Instant Analysis Bradycardia indicates that atrial fibrillation is not detected in the EKG, and the heart rate is less than 50-beats per minute, which is slower than normal for most people. The normal range for heart rate depends on your age and physical condition. Please note, less than 50-beats per-minute can be normal for healthy adults, athletes and during sleep.
Possible Causes:
- Thyroid
- Sleep apnea
- Certain medications
- Damage to the heart tissue
- Or can be normal
Common Symptoms:
- Dizziness
- Chest pain or pressure*
- Lack of energy
- Shortness of breath
- Or none at all
PLEASE NOTE - Chest pain or pressure is a medical emergency. Contact a physician or emergency services if you have questions or are concerned about any symptoms.
What is Tachycardia?
Kardia Instant Analysis Tachycardia indicates that atrial fibrillation is not detected in the EKG, and the heart rate is faster than 100 beats per minute. This can be normal with stress or physical activity. The normal range for heart rate depends on your age and physical condition. The most common form of tachycardia is sinus tachycardia, which is a normal increase in heart rate.
Possible Causes:
- Response to common conditions (anxiety, fright, dehydration, emotional distress, exercise, fever, drugs, certain medications, thyroid disease, or anemia)
- Heart disease
- Conditions that affect the heart’s electrical system
Common Symptoms:
- Dizziness
- Fluttering in chest
- Chest pain or pressure*
- Shortness of breath
- Or none at all
PLEASE NOTE - Chest pain or pressure is a medical emergency. Contact a physician or emergency services if you have questions or are concerned about any symptoms.
What is Atrial Fibrillation?
Kardia Instant Analysis Atrial Fibrillation indicates an irregular rhythm at any heart rate. Atrial fibrillation can increase your risk of stroke, heart failure and other heart-related complications. During atrial fibrillation, the heart's two upper chambers (the atria) beat chaotically and irregularly — out of coordination with the two lower chambers (the ventricles) of the heart. Episodes of atrial fibrillation can come and go, or you may develop atrial fibrillation that doesn't go away and may require treatment.
Possible Causes:
- Advanced Age
- High blood pressure
- Diabetes
- Coronary artery disease
- Heart valve disease
- Other - Thyroid, Medication, Stimulants, Alcohol, Infections, Sleep Apnea
Common Symptoms:
- Palpitations or irregular heartbeat
- Fatigue/Weakness
- Lightheadedness/Dizziness
- Chest Pain
- Shortness of Breath
- Confusion
- Or none at all
PLEASE NOTE - Chest pain or pressure is a medical emergency. Contact a physician or emergency services if you have questions or are concerned about any symptoms.
What is Normal Heart Rhythm?
Kardia Instant Analysis Normal indicates normal sinus rhythm, the normal functioning of the heart's electrical system, at a heart rate of 50 to 100 times per minute. The heart pumps blood to the lungs and to all the body's tissues by a sequence of highly organized contractions between two upper chambers (atria) and two lower chambers (ventricles). For the heart to function properly, the four chambers must beat in sync. Normal indicates that the electrical signals that control the heart are occurring normally, beginning at the top of the heart (from a region called the “sinus” node) and then traveling downwards to the ventricles.
