AliveCor Expands Mobile ECG Device Offering to Include iPhone 5
Heart Monitor Product Line on Display at Heart Rhythm 2013
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. May 8, 2013 – AliveCor, Inc. announced today that its Heart Monitor is now available for the iPhone 5, joining the current models for the iPhone 4 and 4S. The AliveCor Heart Monitor is the first FDA-cleared mobile device-based ECG monitor. The product line will be on display at Heart Rhythm 2013, the Heart Rhythm Society’s (HRS) 34th Annual Scientific Sessions, in Denver, Colorado. AliveCor will also be providing Heart Monitors for HRS’s Citywide Awareness Campaign for atrial fibrillation (AFib), promoting “Cardiac Rhythm Awareness Month” in Colorado.
“AliveCor is honored to help support the activities of the Heart Rhythm Society as it creates public awareness of AFib, and provides the education to support at home heart health monitoring”
The Citywide Awareness Campaign supports education for the public to increase knowledge about symptoms, warning signs, and available treatment options for life-threatening disease states such as AFib, which affects more than 2.5M people in the US. Participants will have their heart rhythms measured with the Heart Monitor, take a cardio risk assessment and meet one-on-one with physicians and allied health professionals to discuss their own risk factors. Take away information will include simple steps for monitoring heart rhythm at home to aid in the early detection and the prevention of life-threatening consequences.
“AliveCor is honored to help support the activities of the Heart Rhythm Society as it creates public awareness of AFib, and provides the education to support at home heart health monitoring,” said AliveCor President and CEO, Daniel J. Sullivan.
The AliveCor Heart Monitor snaps onto the back of an iPhone, like a case, to record, display, store, and transfer single-channel electrocardiogram (ECG) rhythms wirelessly with the corresponding AliveECG app. Recorded rhythm strips can be of any duration, and are stored both in the app and securely in the cloud in PDF format for reviewing, analysis, and printing through AliveCor’s website where data is accessible anytime, anywhere.
